How to Lose Weight and Keep It


I spent last week in Healthy Living Summit in Philadelphia, along with 225 health experts and fitness enthusiasts. The two-day conference was an excellent way to meet other bloggers with similar interests and learn to improve our blogs and blogging best practices.

Once the conference ended, I enjoyed the dinner with a group of my friends new blog. Inevitably, most of our conversation centered on food and fitness (and dogs!), But one of the most interesting conversations we had was the weight loss. Each of us share our experiences and what worked for us to lose weight and keep it off.

All of our weight loss stories were different, but it seemed that the key to successful weight loss was slow and steady progress on the scale, making lifestyle changes regarding healthy eating and exercise. Not one person mentioned (long term) success with a fad diet.

I tried all the fad diets out there. But despite everything was just a diet with a regulated diet plan that would help me lose kilos quickly. Many diets probe for weeks, and although initially it was going to lose weight, they were never able to maintain weight. The problem? I was forced to eat the foods that were not right for my body. Not surprisingly, I felt like I was always hungry, what led me to binge on unhealthy foods.

Although I can not say I liked restrictive diets, taught me something about myself. Sure, I could follow a specific meal plan for a short time, but the food was not really fuel my body, how would I liked to eat food without gaining weight? I had to find a way to eat and not gain weight.

Slowly but surely, I made some adjustments to my diet, adding protein to all my meals, filling fiber, and enjoy smaller portions of my favorite foods. These changes will not happen overnight, and it took a lot of trial and error, but the end result was to find my ideal weight and eating foods that I love and that leaves me full of energy.
