How to set up an e-mail auto-reply in Windows Vista?
You can create a rule in Windows 7 that automatically answer all incoming messages or only to some incoming messages. Firs you consider the fact that if you want the answering machine to work while on vacation or at work, the computer will have on and online all the time. If this sounds like too much trouble for you that is much better to set an automated mail server and not on Windows 7. When you leave your PC running for long periods of time is not a problem for you, here are the steps you follow to set up an auto reply in Windows Vista:
1. First you will need to open Windows Mail Vista and click on email accounts created.
2. It is not necessary to fill in the To: and CC: lines. You must fill in the Subject field and you can also type the message in the body of the message you want to be sent automatically by the automatic response whenever someone sends you an email.
3. Go to File and then click Save As. You can find this in the menu bar located in the upper part of the Windows Vista Mail.
4. Go to the folder where you want to save the newly created message, giving the message a name and click the Save button.
5. You can now close the windows you used to create the message.
Now you have a ready message auto responder that is saved as files an.eml. If you are not sure if you saved the file correctly, just go to the directory you saved the file and check for the extension (the file should be similar to an envelope.)
Now you must set a rule that will define the messages that are automatically answered. Open Windows Mail (it should already be open, as we did in the beginning.) Vai tools, pick and choose the rules of e-mail messages. This will allow you to create the new rule. You can specify which messages will be automatically answered in box 1. You can choose to respond to all messages, or you can define more precisely the rule.
The bad thing about this automatic response is that it is impossible to test it before using it by sending a message from your personal mail account. You receive a message out saying it is not possible to send a message to your account, if you will ever try to do it. The good thing is that you can do a free e-mail account in many places on the internet for free. When you have your free account ready, just send a test message to your Windows Mail account and see if it works or not.
Setting up an auto responder in Windows Vista is easy, but usually is not very practical. That's why I recommend you use an automatic answer to your mail server. In this way you do not leave your personal computer for long periods of time .......
