This do-it-yourself quick-start guide will help you start up your Web site owners SEO and increase their web traffic quickly and free. No history or elaborate explanations will be found here. This article describes a simple, easy to implement a specific plan to do generic SEO yourself. This step-by-step guide will show you how to set up something good, safe, white hat SEO / traffic to your new or existing web site with minimal effort in combination with the easiest to use free online resources.

Let's start:

1. FIND keywords

one. Are you a local business / service or more global?

the. Examples are local demo with the business following example:

Mr. Kung Fu Karate School in Seattle, WA, USA.

ii. There are local examples demo with the business following example:

Susie Smith Arts and Crafts Blog

b. Time to think like a potential customer. What word phrase you expect someone to type in a search engine (like Google) and your web site be listed on the first page of results?

the. Local business owners, be sure to include the words geography. For example, Mr. Kung Fu could use: 'Seattle Karate' or 'Seattle Martial Arts'. He could also use a suburb of Seattle, but specifically (eg, 'Redmond' or 'Duvall').

ii. Non-local business owners, as Susie Smith, could use: 'arts and crafts at home', 'arts and crafts home decor ideas,' or.

c. Use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool (adwords.google.com / select / KeywordToolExternal) to help you find the best keyword phrases for you. Pay attention to local and global search volumes that best represent your market. WARNING: The more popular the keyword phrase is, the competition is more likely to have. If it is too popular, probably will not make the front page of any search engine results. Try using a more specific keyword phrases that search volume is less than 40,000 per month.

d. Choose the first six phrases best keywords for you. Write them in order of importance. Keep on hand a list - which will be used later in this article.

2. PUT ON YOUR SITE TITLE

one. Find the HTML tags at the top of each section of your HTML page header. Your work will be between these two tags.

b. Enter your TOP THREE keyword phrases (in order) here separated by 'pipe' (|) and save it. Redundant words only need be used only once here. See the example below as 'Seattle' and the words 'Home' are used only once but apply to other key phrases:

1) Mr. Kung Fu: Seattle Karate | Martial Arts | Self Defense

2) Susie Smith: Arts and Crafts Home | Decoration Ideas

3. PUT the keywords of the website and DESCRIPTION

one. HTML for websites - Find the HTML tags and at the top of each section of your HTML pages in the header. The keywords and site description will be between these two tags, respectively.

b. Type the keyword phrases in the SIX keyword. Separate each phrase with a comma. Here is good to have the redundant words in your sentences. For example:

1) Mr. Kung Fu type: Seattle karate, martial arts, Seattle, Seattle self defense, etc.

2) Susie Smith type: arts and crafts home, home decor, arts and crafts, ideas, etc.

d. Type 3-5 sentences in your description section of the site that describe your business / service. Try entering the first three sentences of keywords on your website description. Make sure you do it in a way that is readable and natural looking, otherwise it will seem that they are 'keyword stuffing'.

4. CREATE YOUR HOME PAGE (landing page) CONTENTS

one. Without diving too much into how to create an effective landing page design, let's just concentrate on SEO landing page. Your landing page is the most important page, so we need to include the keyword phrases in the content here. The first three sentences of your keywords should be included more than once. Enter your keyword phrase in clear and natural looking to avoid looking like you're "keyword stuffing". Try doing that with the least amount of content you can. If you enter more than one key word phrases that I recommend, you run the risk of being penalized, so do not do more than what is listed here. Place them in the following way:

the. Your # 1 keyword phrase - put it in 4 different places.

ii. Your keyword phrase # 2 - put in 3 different places.

iii. Your keyword phrase # 3 - put in 2 different places.

iv. Your # 4, # 5 and # 6 passphrase - enter only once.

b. Ideas content - You might find it difficult to come up with enough content to enter keyword phrases in a natural way. It is a delicate balance. If you create too much content, new users to your website will leave (no one really wants to read all that stuff). But then again, you need some content for SEO purposes. Here are some ideas of relevant content that will help you put your keyword phrases in SEO without overloading the landing page with unnecessary chatter.

the. Write a short description of what your business / service is. When someone first comes to your website, you must let them know up front what you do and how you can help them with their needs. A general description of your company / products / services is useful for new visitors to your web site as a place to spray in some key SEO phrases. Again, do not overdo it. Keep it simple.

ii. Put some images - Images are a great way to break the monotony of large amounts of content as well as get some keywords in each image fits in your content area allows a title and description tags ALT. Slap one of your keyword phrases within the same phrase to use both tags. Making the image a clickable link anchor to return to the landing page.

iii. Testimonials - Testimonials are great. Take a few from some of your clients / customers and add them to your landing page. "Tweak" slightly to include keyword phrases (if your client / customer does not mind). Try not to overdo it on these. Include too many people get bored and leave.

iv. Awards / Articles - Show possible prizes and / or articles that you may have about your business / service. Type in some quotes from them on its website. 'Tweak' to accommodate some of your keyword phrases. Be careful not to change too ... citations are, after all. If you misquote an article, you might get some backlash from the writer. Ensure that all changes are very subtle and do not alter message the author intended.

5. PUT KEYWORDS in the footer of your website

one. There are a thousand ways to implement the internal connections, but to keep things simple, just create three links in the footer of your website using the first three key phrases to again focus on page load. With most of Website Builder tools, the footer is 'static' and appear on every page, so these links will be on all pages. Here's the key phrase that our examples may put in their footer. Remember, these will be set up as three separate links pointing to your landing page:

1) Mr. Kung Fu: Seattle Karate | Martial Arts in Seattle | Seattle Self Defense

2) Susie Smith: Domestic Arts and Crafts | Home decoration | Arts and Crafts Ideas

6. ADD TO YOUR SITE free directory

one. Free directories are practically useless. Do not waste your time. Some paid directories worth it, but are not free. This article is about Free SEO. There is only one free directories worth submitting your URL: DMOZ (dmoz.org / add.html). Make sure to drill down into the lowest category you think your site is included, then click on the link 'Suggest URL' at the top. Unfortunately, they are so overloaded that it can take months before listing your website. But ... If / when they do, SEO is very good points for you!

7. EXTERNAL LINK to your website

one. Links from other sites to your web site is the best way to help with SEO. If you have friends or acquaintances who have a quality website you trust, ask them if you can put a link to your website on them. Be sure to use one of your three keyword phrases, as the phrase link pointing to your destination website.

b. If you do not know anyone who has a website, then do not worry. Skip to the next step. DO NOT go looking for link exchanges with strangers. If you go looking for websites that do not know where to post your link, probably hurt your SEO without it. Because you're a newbie to SEO, people take advantage of you. SEO is a complex thing to learn, and you probably do not have the time to master. It 's better to just avoid trying something like this together.

8. Social Bookmarking

one. There are hundreds of social bookmarking sites. For reasons of simplicity, we will only submit your site URL to 5 of the best ones. the. Digg (digg.com)

ii. Del.icio.us (delicious.com)

iii. StumbleUpon (stumbleupon.com)

iv. Reddit (reddit.com)

v Propeller (propeller.com)

b. Look for the 'submit link' or 'submit website' link button / once you are connected to each of these sites. Enter link to your site to each of these will usually consists of the following information:

the. URL - The address 'www' what kind of people in the address bar of your browser to access your Web site.

The more professional you make your profile the better.

b. Login and search for groups to join. This is what makes Linked-In a great tool. More groups of people who have the same commercial interests as you and join their groups. There will probably be a lot of groups to choose from. Try to go with ones that have more relevance and / or family members. Do not overdo it. For starters, let's just stick to about 5 groups. If you feel you can manage later, then you can get a little 'time. When searching for groups, try to think beyond just what you focus on your business. For example, Mr. Kung was probably searching for "Karate groups or clusters of the first martial arts. But it might also want to look for the groups 'small business'.

c. Wait for the invitation to the group to be accepted. After requesting to join a group, could take hours or days to be accepted. Be patient.

d. Find friends and colleagues to join. You can search for people you know and send requests to them to join your network of contacts. This is a great way to find old friends and business acquaintances. Tell them about your new website! See which groups participated. You might want to join the same groups!

Then request a review of your website new website and post a link to it (be sure to include the 'http' at the beginning of the link - this makes it clickable). This is perfectly legitimate and acceptable thing to be done. Just do not overdo it on your intro. Keep it in just a few sentences. Here is an example of what Mr. Kung Fu may post as its first argument:

Introduction and Review Website

Title:

Message: Hello, my name is Mr. Kung Fu and I just wanted to introduce myself. I own a small martial arts school in Seattle, WA. I have about 35 students and have been in business for about 14 years. and. Send your article and wait. It could be a couple of days before they approve it. Be patient.

12. TRANSFORM YOUR ARTICLE TO A POST BLOG

one. Many manufacturers websites have a blog built into their websites. Other users will need to find a blogging site to join.

b. Copy the contents of the article and paste it in your first blog post. Here you have more flexibility to create connections, so go ahead and 'optimize' the content to include the TOP TWO keyword phrase as anchor link to your target web page.

13. ALL MASS EMAIL

one. Send mass email to everyone in your email address book (s) has announced the opening of your new website with a link to it. Ask them to send it to other friends and / or family know you might be interested. Word of mouth sometimes works wonders.

14. DONE! Sit back, relax and Wait

one. It may take a couple of days for all this information to be digested by search engines and users. Be patient and wait. If you have done all that I have listed here, your site will be well recognized by all search engines and you will start seeing traffic flowing in Be proud of yourself! You just made hundreds (or thousands) of dollars of work SEO on your website ... FREE! Depending on which company you could use SEO, everything you've just made someone could easily cost several thousand dollars.

b. SEO is an ongoing exercise, however. You can not just do what I have listed here once and be done with SEO forever. If you want to increase traffic and grow, you will need to continue doing some things. Fortunately for you, all you need to continue to increase SEO is already set! See the next section on how to keep your website's SEO.

MAINTENANCE SEO of your website

1. FOLLOW UP ON ITEM # 7 (external links to your website)

one. Keep an eye open for opportunities in the external links from other web sites or services you know and trust. If you created a new opportunity where you can get a link to your website by one of them, implement as soon as possible. Always be sure to use one of your three keyword phrases as the text for the link to the landing page of your website.

2. BLOG

one. Outside of external links to your website, blogging is the best way to do to increase traffic to your website and SEO, especially if your blog is part of your website. Try to post a blog at least once a week if you can, no less than once a month. Write on broader issues outside of your community web smallest. Post things that thousands (if not millions) of people who may be related to your industry or who may be interested to know. Ensure that relates to your website. In your post, working in a key phase of the SIX created. Try to use the first three key words most of the time ... but not all the time. Make that a key step an anchor link to return to the landing page of your website. Try and make it the only link in your post, if you can, and place it near the top of the post. Make it look natural and not six as 'keyword stuffing'.

3. Social Bookmark his new position BLOG

one. If your blog post is something that might be of interest to others outside the local network, you should Social Bookmarks (see step # 8). Instead of putting it in your page's URL as a destination site, insert the link to your blog post. Do this for all 5 websites above social bookmarks. If you have more time to kill and want to expand your SEO, try using Social Marker (socialmarker.com) to submit your blog post URL to 50 + social bookmarking sites.

4. USE-LINKED to send links to your new blog post

one. Access to Linked-In (see item # 9) and post a new thread in each of the groups that have adhered to tell people to see your new blog post. Make sure it is relevant to the group and something that might be interested in. If not, then do not publish it. Also, do not forget to add the 'http://' at the beginning of your link to make sure it is clickable.

5. CONVERT his new position BLOG OF AN ARTICLE

one. This is a flip about what you did for item # 12. Instead of converting your article to a blog post, you will do exactly the opposite: Transform your new blog post an article. Login to your web site article (see item # 11) and submit your blog post. Again, make sure it is relevant to something that people might want to read an article. If not, then do not submit. For example, if Mr. Kung Fu published a blog post of his team winning a local tournament in Seattle, you do not want to post this as an article. However, if Mr. Kung Fu wrote a blog post 'How to prepare for a tournament of Karate' that would be something that would interest readers outside of his local community and could post a website article. Use common sense to know if you should send your post as an article.

6. ANSWER MORE 'YAHOO! Answers to questions. "

one. Once a week try to respond to 5 to 10 questions from Yahoo (see Item # 10). Add a link to the landing page of your website in 'What is your source?' Text Area. Be sure to always include the 'http://' at the beginning of the connection to make it clickable.

7. Patience and perseverance

one. Patience and perseverance will bring you a wealth of SEO and traffic. If you do everything that I have listed here at least once every two weeks (or more if possible), I assure you - it will be fixed within a year. The longer you do, it will be more successful! The hardest part is to be persistent and do it as often as possible. If you keep it up, your website thrive, I promise!
